Enjoy the sea, with Safety and Protection!
In a country like Greece, bathed in sunlight most of the year and with high temperatures stabilizing as early as the first months of spring, trips to the seaside are frequent.
Many of us take our first dives long before the scheduled summer holidays.
While the sun and sea revitalize us, offering relaxation and well-being, it is imperative to be prepared before we dive in.
Your beach essentials must definitely include:
- Sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen! The bronze tan we want to achieve from our very first swims can harbor risks for the skin. Let’s not neglect basic safety rules for the sake of sun-kissed skin. Our skin health must be our primary concern.
- If you do get sunburned anyway — unfortunately, UVA and UVB radiation are no joke — apply anti-inflammatory products that will safely treat redness, stinging, and itching. For the following days and until symptoms subside, avoid direct sun exposure, especially during morning and midday hours.
- Essential accessories are sunglasses, with lenses tested against dangerous solar radiation, as well as a hat to protect your face as much as possible.
- Take a straw mat to the beach and spread your towel over it, or use beach chairs. Undeniably, the feeling of direct contact with the sand or pebbles is relaxing; however, the risk of fungal infections is a possibility if you don’t maintain a safe distance.
- Don't forget to get a product for insect and jellyfish stings. No one wants their day at the sea ruined by a bug bite, but if it happens, the right product can soothe the pain, allowing the "victim" to continue enjoying the joys of the sea.
- Drink plenty of water or natural juices, as the body gets dehydrated from the heat and swimming. It goes without saying that alcoholic drinks and sodas do not replenish the body fluids lost during seaside activities, no matter how refreshing they may feel momentarily.
We can enjoy the sun and the sea with a few basic precautions that can save us from health troubles.
Enjoy your dives!!!
